AREDS2 used 10 mg lutein plus 2 mg zeaxanthin daily as part of a broader eye-health formula, not as a general vision enhancer.
The strongest evidence is for people with AMD risk or low dietary intake. It should not be framed as improving normal eyesight in healthy users.
